Campaign Abstract

This Life Arts Project (LAP) explores the lack of healthcare for all Americans. Lack of healthcare has caused many people to suffer needlessly, both because of being unable to handle medical issues as well as the enormous bills which one can incur. This campaign has opened my eyes to the real truth and the facts about healthcare, in particular healthcare for working families. Working families are experiencing double-digit increases in the costs of health insurance, more out-of-pocket costs for doctor visits and skyrocketing prices for prescriptions, forcing many to delay getting needed medical care or worse, to decline coverage for themselves or their families because of cost. Health care costs are rising at five times the rate of inflation. I appreciate the fact that I have full coverage for my family and I with no out-of-pocket cost.

Blog Abstract

The lack of healthcare is a social issue that’s plaguing millions of Americans. The system which is in dire need of reform is costly and unavailable to the ones who need it most; the working class poor. This Blog represents a team effort to have our voices heard as it regards to the lack of healthcare. We are hopeful that more people would galvanize into action of having their voices heard as well. With the impending elections it is necessary for people to recognize that it is of tremendous importance to take action. In the 2008 presidential election we ask that everyone who is eligible to vote should go out and vote so that we all can experience positive change.

PSA Abstract

As I worked on this campaign I had no idea that I would be involved in a project that would give me the opportunity to focus my attention on the lack of healthcare for working family. This campaign has allowed me to speak to many individuals daily, while getting their opinion about the lack of health care in America. Many of the people whom I encountered and spoke to about the lack of health insurance coverage were appalled by the health care system in the United State. Countless individuals I spoke to did not believe the government was doing enough to help its citizens. They also voiced their opinions about reform to a broken health care system and how it would be a deciding factor in the coming election. I am really grateful I was given the opportunity to work on this topic, because it made me more aware and appreciative that I have access to decent health insurance coverage for myself and my family.

Public Relations Abstract

Hi, my name is Dana Fernandez and I am the Public Relations Contact. As the Public Relations Contact, I am going to survey approximately fifty people ranging in ages from eighteen to sixty. They will be from all different backgrounds. I will survey both working and non working people, some with health insurance and some with no health insurance. I will then take their responses and have a sampling of the importance of health insurance in America today.

Peer Evaluation

Peer Evaluation of The No Health Care! No Vote! Campaign

The No Health Care! No Vote! Campaign is very well done. It provides thoughtful and provocative commentary, resulting in the audience being coaxed to think about health care issues. A variety of informational sources and several interactive tools are effectively used to draw the audience in to the arguments put forth by the campaign. These tools include cartoons, posters, links to pertinent sites, photographs, an interview, and an online survey used to collect data about health care issues. Each tool provides the audience with the opportunity to obtain information, as well as to reflect on the key points of the campaign. The campaign tackles one of the most pressing issues of concern for the American public today – the lack of affordable health care and the astronomical numbers of people who are either uninsured or underinsured.
The campaign is clearly the result of a successful collaboration between members of a team. Each member brought his/her own strengths to the campaign, thereby creating an interactive site where the whole is greater than the sum of its parts.
One suggestion for the team might be to consider providing the audience with actual text regarding health care policy from the presidential campaigns the three leading candidates, or perhaps a synopsis of each of their positions on health care could be offered with a side-by-side comparison. This would provide the audience with more information to help in the decision making process, as well as foster more dialogue.

Research Abstract

Abstract As the research coordinator I had to compile each group member’s public issue paper on health issues. After reading each member’s contribution on healthcare and health issues, I realize that it is important for everyone to have health insurance. Although healthcare is the prevention, treatment, and management of illness and the preservation of mental and physical well being through the services, you still need health insurance to prevent these illnesses. Healthcare embraces all the goods and services designed to promote health, including preventive, curative and palliative interventions, whether directed to individuals or to populations. The health care industry is considered an or profession which includes peoples exercise of skill or judgment, or the providing of a service related to the preservation or improvement of the health of individuals, or the treatment or care of individuals who are injured, sick, disabled, or infirm. The delivery of modern health care depends on an expanding group of trained professionals coming together as an interdisciplinary team.
